Thorian Great War
A quick-witted secret agent of the Church of Cephal.
Gavin was born to a single mother in the shadier side of Bluewall in A.E. 1348. He quickly learned to take care of himself and how to manipulate others to get his way. By age 9, he was had learned to manipulate the bigger kids to get his way. By age 10, he was the mastermind behind the largest child gang in the city, and certain people noticed. On the eve of his 11th birthday, he was initiated into the cities largest crime syndicate, the infamous thieves guild, The Blue Blades. For 14 years, Gavin stole, murdered, and extorted for the Blue Blades. He was a star in the guild, and infamous on the streets. Gavin was on top of the world, and upon turning 26 was offered the job that would set him up to receive a very large sum of money. He was to infiltrate one of the noble houses of the city and assassinate the head of House Arhill, whose downfall would increase crime in the city tenfold, ultimately bringing the guild into untold fortunes, and leaving Gavin very well paid. But on the eve of the job, a young girl appeared at Gavin’s doorstep claiming to be his niece, the daughter of Gavin’s older brother, Keynon, who had left to fight a war and never return. The girl looked exactly like pictures of Keynon, and Gavin’s mother confirmed that the girl was in fact his niece. This sudden change in his family made Gavin think about what was really important to him, and went immediately went to the Blue Blades guildhouse and announced his resignation. This act of perceived betrayal on the night of such an important job was not handled with much tact from the guild and Gavin was branded a traitor and a 25000gp bounty was placed on his head. This didn’t bother Gavin much, because he felt the winds of change in the city. A new guild had arisen; brutal, smart, and well-trained. The Black Dragons had begun to take territory from the Blue Blades, and Gavin knew his former guild didn’t have the will or the manpower to defend itself. But then something Gavin didn’t expect happened, a Black Dragon leader came to him, asking for his assistance in taking down Gavin’s former guild. Gavin accepted, and in a city-wide gang battle that took the Bluewall Legion to end, The Blue Blade Thieves Guild was beaten to the point of disbandment, and Gavin could finally relax knowing that the bounty on his head was gone. But men like Gavin couldn’t rest long, and Gavin was soon taking contracts as an independent “handy man”. assassinations, burglary, kid-napping, or simply someone to watch your back. Gavin did it all, but his life changed when he accepted a contract to escort a group of Dwarves into the forbidding Underdark. Two weeks into the expedition, Gavin’s party was ambushed by a group of Drow, and only thanks to a Illumin named Adinisk did Gavin walk out alive. Gavin spent the next to years with Adinisk, doing odd-jobs and helping Adinisk with research. This was the first time Gavin really ever felt at peace….then in a seemingly usual exploration of a cave, he met Fighters of the Black Rose, and met an unusual halfling and half-orc…
